Sir,

I am directed to transmit for your in- formation the enclosed copy of a letter from the Captain Superin- tendent of Police together with the Books therein referred to, from which it appears that the man, Carl Ahrens, formerly belonged to the "Marine Reserve" of the German Empire, and to enquire whether under those circumstances you are prepared to recognise him as a German subject and to arrange for his removal from the Colony or for his disposal in some other manner.
